EDEN Digital Learning Europe

Who are we

EDEN Digital Learning Europe has a mission to share knowledge and improve understanding amongst professionals in digital learning and to promote policy and practice across the whole of Europe and beyond. In this is respect, EDEN Digital Learning Europe aims to be a smart network for the professional community and a professional community for smart learning.

The Association was established in 2019 as a not-for-profit organisation to continue the operation and 30-year history of the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN) after the United Kingdom left the European Community. Membership of EDEN Digital Learning Europe is open to institutions and individuals engaged in the field of digital learning, and more broadly speaking open, online and distance education. With a wealth of expertise and experience, EDEN Digital Learning Europe embraces all levels of formal and non-formal education and training and continues to play an active leadership role in promoting networking, international co-operation and professional development in digital learning.

Why we are participating in the Project

The project is aligned with the mission of EDEN Digital Learning Europe to help share knowledge and improve understanding amongst professionals and institutions interested in promoting new models of digital learning.

Our Role in the Project

EDEN Digital Learning Europe is playing an important networking and dissemination role in the project. Additionally, EDEN has previously contributed to other European funded projects in the area of Micro-credentials and is building on this experience to contribute academic and conceptual leadership in the design, development and ongoing research on the changing credential ecology across Europe.

Mark Brown

EDEN Digital Learning Europe Management Board Member and Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning at Dublin City University, Ireland

Professor Mark Brown is Ireland’s first Chair in Digital Learning and Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL). He has over 30-years of experience working in the areas of blended, online, and digital education. Estela Daukšienė

Estela Daukšienė

EDEN Digital Learning Europe Researcher and Project Manager

Estela is a Researcher in various projects and initiatives for EDEN Digital Learning Europe. She is a teacher trainer and has considerable experience as a researcher on education-related projects. In the field of educational technology, her research interests include virtual mobility and collaboration in higher education, microcredentials, open educaitonal resources, AI application in Education, and other innovative learning and teaching practices.

Carlos Madrid Gari

Project Manager and Research Officer

Carlos works for EDEN Digital Learning Europe as a Project Manager and Research Officer. He is based in Barcelona, Spain.

Denise Brown

Research Assistant

Denise works as a Research Assistant for EDEN Digital Learning Europe. She is a trained teacher and has considerable experience working as a researcher on education-related projects.
